I’ve just been reading a few of your interviews from your website just now so I’ll try not to overlap with them too much. You’ve said that you first started to get an interest of spanking at your Catholic school. Were you ever spanked back then? Some of the teachers would walk around with paddles. Did you see anyone else get spanked back then or was it the threat that turned you onto it?

I was *never* spanked back then by any teachers, clergy or lay staff — I was the culminate “good girl”! It was the threat of the taped frat paddle that my PE teacher brandished. It was actually more about the scolding back then. Hot dang, could those teachers make you want to crawl into a hole and die just from their tongue lashings!!! As for watching others get it, well again I got way more out of the experience NOT seeing it! The PE teacher would bring the miscreant into the auditoriums back office for their swats. You only heard muffled sounds, implied cries and squelched dismay. My own imagination filled in the blanks.

When did you receive your first spanking as an adult? What was it like?

I received my real first adult spanking at APEX (the AZ Power Exchange) during a regular Saturday night “dungeon” party. I was restrained on a spanking bench while wearing panties and a leather corset. It wasn’t a traditional spanking scene, it was a percussive session with hands, crops, small straps and paddles. I experienced the most profound sense of subspace I have felt yet to this day, and it was bliss!

As a professional disciplinarian do you still get spanked yourself?

Yes absolutely!!! Disciplinarians can certainly benefit from taking a good spanking just like everyone else! I do consider myself a switch (although I loathe the term) and for me it’s about the balance. If I get too “top heavy” it causes other problems in my life, so I need to balance that out with some heavy caning sometimes.

Everyone likes different aspects about being spanked, what is it you like? And how severe? What is your own tolerance like?

I’m a canes girl, I like to both give as well as receive heavy caning. As a bottom, I like receiving the pain from a cane specifically (I don’t like the pain from straps or paddles for instance). I like the feeling that I’m atoning for my sins through a physical test of endurance. I feel emotionally cleansed from a blood letting caning. I have a fairly high tolerance to canes when the right stimulus is provided *smiles*.

What would be a perfect spanking for you to receive?

I enjoy being caned until I orgasm. It’s a different type of orgasm than the strictly sexual one of clitoral or g-spot stimulation, but it’s very orgasm-like. I call them cane-gasms, a full body, almost electro-chemical feel in every fiber of your being.

Does spanking turn you on? Is spanking sexual?

Bottoming in spanking/caning scenes can be very sexual, very erotic for me, but that depends totally on the chemistry I share with the top. Most spanking scenes for me are disciplinary in nature.

It sounds like you became a top almost by mistake but your build, long limbs and hard hands meant that you were an ideal top. What qualities make an ideal bottom? Do you prefer men/women to submit completely or do you like some backchat, brattiness?

I did initially become a top out of necessity, but these days I top to advance my skills, to enjoy guiding people on their journeys, and to heal from my own character flaws. The qualities I enjoy in a bottom are politeness/respect, service/detail orientation, capability of “going there” (emotional and physical health). Moderate bratting is fine as long as they know that bratting will result in a larger physical response from me (in other words, bratting = I hit harder), and they accept those consequences.

When did you give a public spanking on film for the first time? Was that a big deal?

The first video company I worked for was Shadowlane. It was “Mischief Makers III” and I spanked Jenni Mack and Sarah Gregory. It was definitely a big deal for us all! It was Jenni and my first video, and I think it was only Sarah Gregory’s second (her first being with Punished Brats, if I’m not mistaken). The thing is Eve, Tony and Butch were so cool about everything. The set was real relaxed and we were really able to be ourselves, do some improv and even got to add elements (the double OTK hand spanking was my creative input!) We had a blast, and I think it really showed in that video!

From what I’ve seen of you on the internet it seems that your spankings tend to be at the harder end of the spanking spectrum. Do you enjoy giving a harder spanking more than a milder one?

Not at all! That’s an unfortunate myth about me! It’s true that more times than not the types of spankings I’m directed to do are on the harder end of the spectrum because that’s what looks the best on screen. As well, I tend to attract many folks who enjoy a heavier handed spanking because statistically there are not many of us out here who can spank hard just with our bare hands. But I very much enjoy giving a nice percussive spanking on occasion. For percussive spankings, I use both hands in a light, rapid, drumming rhythm. At the end of one, the recipients bottom is a nice light warm pink, nothing crazy, not even red! I have many different levels, and I enjoy giving the spankee an experience that matches their hopes and fantasies rather than spank them clean out of the ballpark!

I’ve been reading about your “Mother” (short for “Mother of all hairbrushes”). For the uninitiated are there any dangers when trying a new implement for the first time?

I teach various classes around the country and I explain there are always risks when you pick up something new or try something for the first time. I always tell folks to start their exploration with the shortest and lightest possible implement (usually ones hand, a very small pocket paddle or even a hairbrush). Accuracy is your number one priority and it always should be! Learn what the target area is, and then practice until you can hit that area every time. Once you master the short and light category you can move up in length…a medium sized leather strap, a fraternity paddle, a short flogger or even a small cane. The longer the implement the more challenging accuracy becomes so don’t advance up to lengths you can’t control before you’re ready. Finally, when you’re ready try a singletail whip, a long senior cane or a super long flexible strap. Note that implement flexibility will play a pivotal part in your ability to hit your target. A rigid long armed wooden paddle is easier to aim and hit with than an equally long ultra limp leather razor strop.

Do you have a favourite roleplay scenario?

Oh wow, people ask me that question all the time and I still don’t know how to answer, I have too many favorites! *laughs* I suppose the 2 that come to mind for me the most are Nun/parishioner and Boss/employee. If I were to say why, I would say that both of those scenarios I have real life exposure and experience with, in fact I have some very rich memories of both my time as a Catholic and as an employee in an “Office Space” type of environment. I remember the fear that both sets of authority figures invoked by just walking the halls and I like to recreate that for others. My role plays have an enormous amount of detail in them, the more authentic the better! Because I lived both scenarios extensively, I call on those memories to help enrich and color the scenes I have today.

What does the future hold for Miss Chris?

I’ve just been reading the info on your website www.danaspecht.com. When did you give your first adult spanking to a naughty man/woman? Was it with a partner or how did you get into it?

My husband introduced me to the adult spanking world when I first met him. I was in my early 40’s and he was into it but I never knew there was such a fetish. He knew I was very open and could be a little kinky so he showed me his collection of videos, and magazines and I was immediately fascinated. I knew after watching a few videos that this is something I could get into and enjoy. I guess the first spanking I gave was to him – to practice sort of speak, but I was a natural at it right from the beginning.

What qualities do you need to be a good top?

You have to have confidence in yourself and know how to take charge and control of the situation. You have to be sensitive and alert to people’s emotions and feelings and respect for each and every client that walks through your door. Be a good listener.

I like your look a lot, pretty, feminine and strict at the same time. What kind of scenarios do you get the most requests for?

Thank you. I am asked to be the Mom or Aunt most of the time. Schoolteacher and boss are common requests too.

What kind of role-plays are your personal favourites?

I really get into the Mother role and I guess that’s because I am a mother and the role-play comes natural to me. I am very maternal and instinctively know what my clients need.

For the uninitiated, what kind of spankings do you give?

I can give both sensual and severe spankings but I prefer to administer a hard spanking. I like to begin with a light warm up and increase the intensity to medium then hard.

Do you prefer the intimacy of spanking over the knee or the reaction you get from using an implement over a bench or table?

I prefer over the knee for a hand spanking, hairbrush and small paddle. When I use my leather straps and big paddles I like to make my naughty boy or girl bend over the dresser, lie face down on the bed, or kneel on the bed on all fours.

As well as the actual spankings you are famous for your scoldings. I think this is the hardest thing for a lot of tops to master. Did you learn this skill or does it come naturally?

Thank you again. Yes I’ve been told that no one can give a scolding like Dana Specht. As I said before, I am a mother and would scold and lecture my own children when they were growing up. I guess it does come naturally to me too because once I get started you’re in for a long showdown. To me it’s easy – you say the right bullet words like “spank”, “over my knee”, “bare bottom” “shame on you”, etc. and just run with them. Whatever the scenario is, you can ad lib and rant and rave about the crime and subsequent punishment. You’re in charge and the naughty culprit has to take whatever you dish out. I believe that a good scolding is just as important as a sound spanking, especially if you’re role-playing.

Are you ever submissive?

No.

What are your sessions like?

I could take a whole page to answer this but I’ll try and give you the condensed version. Each session is different whether you’ve seen me before or for the 100th time. I find out beforehand what implements you like, if any, and if you are looking for a scenario or coming to me to be punished for real-life issues such as weight loss or smoking cessation. Sometimes my clients request a certain wardrobe they’d like me in. I like to sit and chat with you before we get started so you can relax and feel comfortable with me. This is the time to go over any special issues or concerns and to discuss the scenario again. When I feel you are ready, I pounce and immediately get into character. I slowly build up your pain tolerance to the point where I feel you’ve had enough and I’m usually very in tune to what your body is telling me. I don’t want anyone to not enjoy his or her session. I am not a sadist and I’m not trying to prove anything. I want you to leave with a red sore bottom and have the effects of your spanking linger for a few days. After the session is over I like to have some cool down time where we can talk about the session. I realize the state of euphoria you are in and I don’t want to rush you out the door.

Generally speaking, who deserves to be spanked more men or women?

That’s a tough one. Some naughty girls should be spanked as often as the boys but I think boys deserve to be spanked more. They can’t help but get into mischief and they need to be punished for their offences. It makes them feel better and they know it. They also know they’ll still get into trouble no matter how old or how big they get. After all, they’re boys! That’s why I love them.

What makes a good bottom for you?

Physically for my liking I enjoy a nice firm spankable bottom. I appreciate people who take care of their bodies and their appearance too. You earn points with me if you arrive showered and shaved and wearing clean clothes, especially your underwear. Arrive on time! If I ask you to call ahead to confirm your appointment, do it or I’ll assume you aren’t coming and just wasting my time. A good bottom is respectful to me at all times and gives me the reins during the entire session. I can’t stand it when someone tries to top from the bottom!

What does the future hold for Dana Specht?

What kind of things were you spanked for growing up?

I was spanked for being naughty, like most kids were back when I was growing up. Things like asking both parents if I could go somewhere and getting a “no” from both, then telling one the other said yes and taking off to do my thing. God forbid I was late getting home and both parents had time to get together to find out neither had given permission. It was usually things that were so bad it kinda scared them, like crossing the street without help at the wrong time, or getting in trouble at school. Problem was, it only taught me to be a crafty liar instead of getting it through my head that what I’d done was really wrong. I believe that if you invade a child’s space like that, in what seems to them a violent way, kids only get pissed off and learn to get around you instead of respecting you.

Have you used real life experiences as inspiration for scenes?

I have used real life experiences for inspiration for scenes, but not in that childlike way. I use conflicts between myself and my husband, or between myself and friends, or what used to be co-workers (before I worked for myself), or store clerks…anyone I encounter that makes me think, “This person could use a good spanking!” BTW, I’m the only one spanked in my marital relationship, so that usually means I’ll use some argument we’ve had where I was wrong. Or, if he was wrong, I super-impose that onto a woman. Also, I’m never spanked in real life for being “naughty” anymore. We just spank for spanking’s sake, because it turns us on.

I was reading in David Pierson interviews Chelsea Pfeiffer that you like some sex comedies from the 60’s. Which ones do you like that inspired the sexy/naughty aspects of your work?

“The Pink Panther” movies, or just about anything with Peter Sellers. “Casino Royale,” “What’s New Pussycat,” “The Party.” I loved those hotel hallway chase scenes. Too funny! Just wish once they would have thrown open the door on a good spanking scene.

I’ve just been looking through your websites and it is definitely clear that you are one of the biggest names in spanking. Your classics website has some amazing scenes.. Do you have a favourite scene from “Good Spanking Classics”?

Oh dear…there are so many! I’ve been doing this since 1998 on my own and since 1991 for other companies… I think I liked “House Rules” (CP-93). It starred Samantha Woodley and Ashley Fires and was just a good, sound spanko plot. No one sent it to me, it just came to me one day, and it turned out to come out of the mind of many a spanking enthusiast. It was very popular. Unfortunuately, it’s been taken down from GoodSpanking.com and has a long way to go before it turns up on GoodSpankingClassics.com. Actually, I take that back now that I think about it, I might have to change the way I’m posting to Classics. I’ve been doing it in numerical order, first movie first, etc. But, I miss seeing some of the more popular ones myself! Right now, however, it IS still available on DVD at CPEntertainment.com.

How has spanking changed from when you started out? If at all.

It’s changed tremendously since I first started out. The spanking movies that I first saw were deadly! So boring I thought I was going to cry (and not in a good way) before they got to the end. Hours and hours of girls who couldn’t care less spanking each other like they were afraid to hurt each other, shot in REALLY bad apartments with worse lighting, no scripts, bad 70’s and 80’s wardrobe… No wonder what I shot at first was so exciting to me and, thankfully, others. Then I saw Shadow Lane videos and was greatly relieved to see that someone out there knew what it was really about. They inspired me, we inspired each other…all of us producers, and it’s made for a much better genre. The spankings are real. The girls are real. The scenes are something we can all relate to.

The biggest change is not a good one, lately, in my opinion. It’s not about the movie anymore. It’s about the updates. Lots of short scenes shot on the fly… I’m not any better in my trying to keep up, either. I would love to get back to shooting full movies, but sales of DVDs are not what they used to be. It’s all about subscription sites now. If I shoot a 48 minute movie it takes a little long to get to the end of the movie and I can’t offer full movie download for a movie that long because of the file size. Plus, if I give out 48 minutes an update I’d be shooting myself in the foot financially. Still, I try to take my challenges as they present themselves. I think we’re doing pretty well, now that we’ve figured out the newest format. That’ll change, too, soon I’m sure. Change is what it’s all about and I’ve learned, finally, not to fear change.

Now you are spanking all the hot new starlets on the block like Sinn Sage and Snow Mercy and all the Kink girls like Jade Indica, Cherry Torn and Dia Zerva. What qualities makes a girl good to work with?

First, they can’t be afraid (I mean seriously afraid). A little nervousness is fine, but if they’re scared I’m going to truly hurt them then they are no one I’ll consider. That’s what you have to be careful with when you get the “porn” girls. I mean, they’ll be taking DP one day and then they’re scared to get spanked? Please… A deadpan personality is pretty much a turn off, although Sinn was pretty darn deadpan when I first met her. She was suspicious of me, because she’d done a scene with another producer who spanks super hard (makes my spankings look like a walk in the park!) and she was NOT going to let that happen to her again. But, as she got to know me she relaxed and, strangely, the Chelsea Spanks session I did with her was what won her over. Those are half-hour, non-stop spanking sessions that include at least three implements. There are no cuts, no edits. The camera never turns off. The girls get spanked for a half-hour without rest. It takes fortitude.

Other qualities include looks, of course, and I can work with a lot of different personality types. Some are witty, some are dry, perky, silly, nervous…you name it. I like a girl to be punctual and professional, but friendly. I don’t like to have to baby them along. I’ve turned some girls off that way. When I’m in busy mode, I’m about getting the job done, not about coaxing someone along by telling them how beautiful/wonderful they are when they arrive and when they leave. If they do a good job, I beam with praises quickly, get them to sign the release, pay them, give them a quick hug and send them on their way. I’ll shoot them an email telling them they were great and to email when they’d like to work again. Some have become friends, but I can’t make a friend of every one of them. That’s not to say I’m insensitive to them. As we’re shooting I’m very in tune to them, especially physically, reading body language, etc. When there are cuts (in the storyline shoots) I’ll ask everytime, “Are you okay?” And, it’s funny. They’ll be carrying on during the spanking and making me worry, then the cut comes and I ask and they say cheerily, “I’m fine!” It’s so out of character from the storyline that it cracks me up.

You’re not in every scene, I know that you produce /direct as well. Which side of the camera do you prefer?

I used to be in a lot fewer scenes because I couldn’t direct and perform at the same time. Not the case now. I’m able to direct the scene as I would like it to happen even while I’m in it. I can’t see what’s going on through the camera lens, though, so Larry gets the videographer’s credit there. He takes what I want and shoots it so that it’ll edit together properly, etc. So, sometimes we have to take direction from him, as well. Yes, we occasionally argue. What married couple doesn’t? That kind of arguement is okay. It’s about working together to make a better creative project. But, we try to keep those arguements short. We don’t want to bore the pants off the girl. Pants should come off in a much more appealing way.

Is there an ingredient that every Chelsea Pfeiffer production has?

I used to say that humor was an ingredient in every production, but not so much lately. I’m liking more serious/sexy stories lately. That’s not to say I won’t always love the funny stuff. I (almost) always have something feminine on the set, like a nice vase of flowers or something soft and flowing. I like to accentuate the girl/girl aspect.

I personally love attractive women who switch, your Soccer Moms scene with Clare Fonda was amazing. Do you still switch?

That Soccer Moms scene was Clare’s idea, BTW. She just came up with it off the cuff while we were having lunch one day and I thought it was GREAT! We can both improv pretty well, so we just went at it. It was soooo much fun! Poor Larry. We went on and on with the dialogue and he had to shout to get us to cut so he could go to a different angle. Yes, I do still switch. I’ve done so recently with Kailee and Sinn…a couple of others. Some I’ve shot for the coming-some-day-when-the-economy-recovers SpankingMILFS.com.

If I was a naughty girl which implement should I be most scared of being in your hands? Which do you love/hate the most?

You should fear my strap. Just watch almost any scene where I strap a girl. I love most implements. I hate the cane because of the aim issue and the inflexibility of it if you miss, but I’m trying to get over that. I admire a lot of the U.K. ladies who can cane like crazy…hair flying, scolding and stinging cane. That said, I really don’t like to see a bottom too mottled up and caning often leads to that.

Any future plans?

Like I said, when the economy finally comes around I’ve got Spanking MILFS about ready. We’ve got an idea for Larry to be a main player in some slightly more graphic movies and a site. How have your feelings about spanking changed since you got into the spanking world?

When I first started getting spanked erotically I was working as a pro sub and I became known at the club as a girl who really liked to be spanked and take it hard. In my twenties and early 30’s that did not apply although I never had a hard drug habit, only smoked crack once and that is pretty good for someone who grew up in Florida.

How do you keep in shape?

I go to the gym but mainly I like to walk. A few of my relationships have lasted longer than they should have because he would walk with me. Hmmm, good kinky mainstream movie.. that is really hard to say. I am sure that some fucked up early movies like Clockwork Orange influenced my sexuality a lot. I know that Paris [Kennedy] and I tried to watch the Secretary but got distracted, then again that is one mean case of ADD between the two of us. I really enjoyed the Duchess I saw the recently but then again it may be to much of a chick flick. To me it was pervy though. Hey if Ralph Fiennes or Jeremy Irons is in it, it is usually pervy. I loved the Movie DAMAGE I saw in college I also liked the new Lolita. Go Jermery Irons!! It is so funny cause my mum loves him and now every movie he does is so pervy. Yes, I think they have been very good to me. I don’t pretend that I had spanking on my mind since I was hatched but i do find it very interesting and hot. Yes, I have loved acting ever since I was little.
